How to deploy to IBM Softlayer

We are proud and happy that you want to deploy our ready-made stack applications to their IBM SoftLayer cloud. IBM SoftLayer is a dedicated server, managed hosting, and cloud computing provider built to give you the highest performing cloud infrastructure available. A platform that integrates and automates everything. Cloud administrators and users access IBM SoftLayer services over the Internet or through a dedicated network connection.


Deployment Guide

The deployment process is very easy, let’s begin:

1. Login to your account on TryDirect.

2. Go to the STACK page and find the stack application you want to deploy. Click on DEPLOY NOW button.

3. Choose IBM SoftLayer Provider

4. By scrolling down you will find a notification that you need to add your API Key and USERNAME from your IBM SoftLayer account. This way the process will be much easier and faster. Don’t worry, we will not keep your credentials in our database. Credentials will be automatically deleted from our system.

5. To find your API KEY go to your IBM SoftLayer account. Go to Manage > Security > Platform API keys to see a list of your API Keys with descriptions and dates.

6. Then click on Create Button in order to create a new API key. Insert the required fields.

7. Copy the API key, or click Download to save it. This is the only time you will see the key. You cannot retrieve it later.

8. Now go back to TryDirect page and add the key in the required field and your username.

9. Then fill in all blank fields like Base Domain Name, SSL, OS, Region and Server with details you want and click Install button

10. The installation process begins. You may see the progress status and wait 2-3 minutes until it is completed. After it is 100 % completed, refresh the TryDirect page and click on Info icon to find out how to apply the SSL certificate.

11. TryDirect deploys a special stack application called Status Panel. The Status Panel is used to help you activate/deactivate SSL certificates. Here you can also check the status of all installed services on your server. Right after the stack is successfully deployed, you will receive an E-mail notification with the link to your server IP address, login and password. Status Panel link will look like this http://your_server_ip:5000

Finally, when SSL certificate installation is done, Status Panel can be deactivated or removed.
